Samina Hussain - Sakoon Through Cancer
My life experiences have shaped me to be a strong and resilient person, with a career of 20 years in Local Government leading on Skills, Workforce Development, Apprenticeships and Corporate Social responsibility, which has enabled me to work in the public community and private sector. I offer business Skills Insights, focusing on workforce planning to enable business to grow and thrive.
In 2015 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer my cancer journey lead me to be the cofounder of Sakoon Through Cancer, supporting South Asian Woman through Cancer. I learnt that we all have a story to share and in South Asian Community talking about your diagnosis or sharing how you feel is unheard of or taboo. My strength came from hearing from others like me, sharing on social media and creating a sisterhood, so we all have an army of people to walk alongside us, the Never Alone Network.
Strength comes from connecting with people and sharing your stories and ideas, as “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass but leaning to dance in the rain” Vivian Green.
