Sandra Orlando-Payne - Inhabitat Design Studios
Originally from Buenos Aires, Sandra completed her training at The Bartlett UCL in London. She worked for over 15 years for local architecture practices in Reading, Windsor and in London. She also collaborated with an Italian practice in Milan. After becoming a mother in 2012 Sandra undertook freelance work and subsequently decided to set up her own architecture practice – Inhabitat Design Studios - to 'boldly go where not many women architects have gone before'.
For Sandra the challenge of running her own business was attractive. She was also convinced that there was a market for good contemporary design locally, away from London, Milan or Paris just for people like her! With the onset of social media, affordable city breaks and exotic overseas holidays we are all more exposed to the latest design trends and people like Kevin McCloud and George Clark have contributed to showing the possibilities of contemporary architecture. Sandra is passionate about eco design and the impact some basic design decisions can have on our immediate environment and help us make a contribution to save the planet.
Inhabitat Design Studios is a team of female architects. Female architects listen. They are the kind of people clients want to engage with in order to discuss how to make their dreams a reality. Whether it is a house extension, a new build for a developer, a school project, a community group project or a commercial project, Inhabitat Design Studios find the shared experience of designing a space to inhabit truly exciting.
They love what they do and work with their clients so they enjoy the process as much as the final product.
